Achievement Award

RRHA ofIllinois acknowledges a membership professional who excels in their contributions to RRHA of Illinois and to their RRHA membership company/housing authority, and property residents, in a given year.

The RRHA of Illinois Barb Schlaefer Award recognizes one’s involvement, commitment and achievement. Recipients exemplify professional excellence and is a role model to the membership entity staff and residents.

This individual has been:
• Active in RRHA and contributing to the RRHA cause
• A positive contributor to their membership company/authority
• Involved in the well-being of their properties and residents

Nomination: When nominating an individual for this award, please provide information that strengthens the nomination including:
• Industry/community involvement
• Role model/mentor to company staff and property residents
• Professional designations, awards, and other areas of recognition

Who May Nominate: Any individual who is employed by a membership company of RRHA of Illinois. Nominations may be strengthened by supporting documentation from other staff members, an RRHA Board Member, the RRHA Executive Director, a Government Employee who works alongside this individual in the housing industry, as well as resident letters of support. 

Award Presentation: When possible, the award recipient will be announced and presented their recognition annually at the RRHA Conference. All nominations will be accepted between January and March and then announced in May/June each year. The recipient will be awarded a plaque with engraved information of their recognition.

Initial Award Recipient: In 2013, Barbara Schlaefer, the award namesake, was presented the first recognition plaque.
